 VALVE INTERLOCK

Valves have a prime safety function in many process industries. The opening and closing of valves in the wrong sequence can have disastrous consequences. Controlling the sequence of events in which process activities are conducted, has been achieved by documented instructions. However, this system is susceptible to ‘human error’. Failure to interpret instructions correctly, work load, stress, ignorance of the system, can all lead the operator to make errors, and the consequences can be disastrous.

A valve interlock is a dual-key assembly which locks the valve in two positions - open and closed - with one key trapped within the lock assembly and one key free.

PETROMECH ENGINEERS PRIVATE LTD (PEPL) is a market leader in providing services to the Oil &Gas sector, Process Industry. PEPL has over a decade experience in supplying special alloy steel piping materials to various Indian industries. In its experience in the Process Industry and seeing the growing awareness and demand for safety products PEPL identified the need for Interlocking Systems for the Process Industry and hence the inception of new division PETROSAFE SAFETY SYSTEMS (PSS) to design and manufacture Interlocking Systems.

A PETROSAFE SAFETY SYSTEMS (PSS) Interlock guides the operator through a predefined sequence with unique keys for each step. In the event when a mistake is made only then the operator will not be allowed to proceed. Either key will not fit or the valve will be in locked position. Trapped Linear Key Interlocks are simple, mechanical devices, which can be customized to implement a safe sequence of operation in any process activity.

PETROSAFE SAFETY SYSTEMS (PSS) has developed process Interlocking Solutions for various applications such as Valve System, PSV, Pig Launching and Receiving, Critical work area locking Systems.

PSS interlocks are of different types like QTL, MTL. The Interlocks are easy to operate and clearly show the condition of the valve and can be fitted to every type and size of valve in service without interfering into the operation of the plant.

These are simple and reliable solutions for all types of industrial applications where process systems need systematic operation of valves in predetermined sequences.

The Interlocks are manufactured from Stainless Steel (SS 316) and hence are maintenance free, tamper-proof, robust, reliable.
